Aamir Khan (The Perfectionist)

Aamir Khan born on 14th March 1965 in Bombay(now Mumbai). His Father, Tahir Hussain, is a film producer. Aamir started his debut in the film industry at a fledgling age of eight in his uncle Nasir Hussain's movie "Yadon ki barat". His professional career started with the film "Holi" in 1984. His stupendous performance in "Qayamat se qayamat tak" took him to new heights in 1988. The famous song "Papa kahte hein bada naam karega" was one of the key attributes of this popular movie. His sterling performace in the movie 'Raja Hindustani' earned him the most coveted Film Fare Award for the Best Actor.

His biggest commercial success "Lagaan" credited to both as an actor cum film producer. The Filmfare bestowed him with one more award as the Best Actor in 2002. His directorial debut with the movie "Taare zammen per" in 2007 earned him the Filmfare award for Best Director which goes to show his multifacetedness. Aamir has done playback singing in a few movies and the song 'Aati kya khandala' from movie Ghulam is very popular even now.

Aamir married Reena Dutta during the years of Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. They had two children, a son named Junaid and a daughter named Ira. Reena was involved in Khan's career brieflywhen she worked as a producer for Lagaan. Khan filed for divorce next year ending the 15 years of married life with Reena and taking the custody of both the children. He got acquainted to Kiran Rao during the filming of Lagaan and that resulted a new knot. Kiran had suffered a miscarriage which was disclosed by the actor himself on his blog on 16th August 2009.
“I have bad news folks. Kiran and I lost our baby. Despite our best efforts we were unable to avert a miscarriage,” the actor wrote in his blog.

The movie "Gazani" portrayed his transformation from the early chocolate boy to a full blown super hero image in bollywood. This movie kindled my spirit to sketch his Gazani's look. Aamir worked extremely hard for this movie in tune with the requirement of having a strong physique with extraordinary look. Aamir Khan toiled almost for a year working out three hours a day with his health instructor Satyajit Desai. The result is a well chiselled body of 6 pack abs much to the adoration of his female followers. He employs his time judiciously and prefers to do one movie a year which demands a perfect role. Nowadays his one more hit "3idiots" running in theaterss in excellent pace. Keep rocking Aamir ji and very very happy new year 2010!!

Kailash Kher (A versatile singer)

Kailash Kher is an Indian Pop singer, primarily in Sufi songs. He was born in Mahalka (25 km away from Meerut, UP) on 7th july 1973 in a music environment. His father Pt. Mehar Singh Kher, a kashmiri brahmmin, was a folk singer and guru for Kailash in early stage of life. Kailash was very famous for his singing wherever he studied. His unique high-pitched voice touches souls. The song "Teri Deewani" is a perfect example of this.

He tried his luck in business but did not get a good success in that. His friends told him to try his luck in Mumbai where he first recorded a private album with composers Paresh and Naresh. That was when he came down to Mumbai and joined band called "Kailasa" which includes musician brothers Naresh and Paresh. Later he moved to Bollywood, the track "Rabba Ishq Na Hove" from the movie "Andaaz" was well received. In 2002, his song "Allah ke Bande" from relatively obscure movie "Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II", made him a household name. After giving some good hit songs in boollywood he started going into concerts with his band kailasa. The way he sings in his concert that is really amazing. He walks, dance,...while singing that actully gives him a variety in his singing and stand him in Pop singers list. He started looking for concerts outside the country as well. He is doing really great nowadays in foreign countries especially in US. He was a judge on the singing talent contest, Indian Idol on Sony TV. He is also a judge on the show "Kurkure Desi Beats Rock On with MTV", where he judges the "Desipann Quotient" of contestants. He recently entered into the Kannada film industry. Special mention has to be made to his song "Hale patre" from the movie "Junglee" has proved a huge hit among the audience.

I have been to one of his concert in Bangalore. I had heard about him earlier but I could see also that day, how dynamic he is while performing. He was passing jokes also in between. Overall, his allround performance was absolutely tremendous in his concert. A day before his concert, I met him in Chancery Hotel Bangalore and gifted his sketch to him. He very well appreciated and said everything in his smile (a killer one, gals admit :-) ). In above photo, he is looking at sketch and appreciating me. I had a dream, I will meet him and gift his sketch. It came true that day. I really can not explain the feelings what I was feeling at the time of meeting. It was actually a strange pleasure. This all could have been possible only because of Mr. Pakul Chaturvedi who was manager for this concert. Pakul is very nice human being and very kind hearted guy. In Bangalore concert, Kailash Kher admited "we have released an album "Yatra" out side the country and by God grace we are listed in top 10 album through out the world". All the Best Kailash Ji, keep rocking!!!!

A Megastar Bollywood king Shahrukh Khan born on 2nd november 1965. He was brought up in Delhi. He started his carrer in 1988 acting in serial called Fauji. He appeared in some more serials, most notably in 1989 Aziz Mirza's Circus. Later on he made his film debut in Deewaana in 1992. This was the time after that he never looked behind and made lot of success in filmy career. After a big success in Badshah movie in 1999, he became famous as Badshah of Bollywood. During his successfully years in Bollywood, he has won 13 film fare awards. Among them seven are in Best Actor category. Now he is very well known name in Indian Cinema.

He won lot of awards while studying in St. Columba's School. Sword of honor, an annual award given to the student who best represents the spirit of the school, was the best among them. Khan has an elder sister named Shehnaz. After the death of his parents, Khan moved to Mumbai in 1991. In that same year, before any of his films were released, he married Gauri Chibber (who is a Hindu of Punjabi Mohyal origin, born in New Delhi) in a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony on 25 October 1991. They have two children, son Aryan (born in 1997) and daughter Suhana (born in 2000). According to Khan, while he strongly believes in Allah, he also values his wife's religion. At home, his children follow both religions, with the Qur'an being situated next to the Hindu gods.

Khan went to appear in television again but this time as a host and earned lot of fame in KBC and one more game show called "Kya aap panchawi class se tej hein". Khan is owner of Kolkata Riders in IPL but he has not yet got big success in this.

While sketching him, I remembered "Chakde" movie since I was sketching "Chakde look" only. He acted exceptionally well in this movie and finally this movie became super duper hit on box office. How he gave training to players as a coach that was really remarkable, hats off to Shahrukh khan as he filled the zeal and enthusiastic in the players. It was tremendous job as a coach. I am very much sure if all the coaches really follow the same what Shahrukh did as an actor in the movie, India will never lose even a single match in any kind of game. While watching this movie even I became so excited so many times and I was feeling like if I would have been part of this team I would have done this and that. That kind of spirit he had created in the team. A day after tomorrow is very special day, its Sharukh's Birthday. Wishing you a very very happy Birthday Shahrukh Ji in Advance!! :)

Roger Federer (FedEx)

Swiss Maestro Roger Federer is the current #1 ranked tennis player in the world, having previously held the number one position for a record 237 consecutive weeks. He is considered to have the talent to be the best tennis player of all time. He is an all-court player known for his fluent style of play and shot making. He plays with an excellent single-handed backhand which gives him great variety.

He was born August 8, 1981, in Basel, Switzerland. His parents, Robert and Lynette, both worked in the pharmaceutical industry. Robert was an executive for Ciba-Geigy. He met Lynette, a native South African and also a Ciba-Geigy employee, during a business trip. Their marriage also produced a daughter, Diana, in 1979. He and his older sister grew up in the town of Munchenstein, just outside the city of Basel. A 2,000-year-old city on the Rhine, it is home to Switzerland’s oldest university, dozens of museums and the famous Theater Basel.

From the age of 10 to 13, Roger spent more time with Carter (A tough player from Australia) than his own parents. The coach taught Roger flawless technique on his ground strokes and serve, and watched him grow into his body and start dominating opponents. The two also discussed the mental side of the game—not just strategy and psychology, but also about the importance of being gracious and polite and reigning in your emotions. In 1994, at the age of 13, Roger decided it was time to leave home and accept an invitation to Switzerland’s national training center in Ecublens, near Lausanne. He would come home on weekends and spend time with his family, but every Sunday night, when it was time to board the train for the two-hour ride back, he was terribly depressed. The training center was in the French-speaking part of the country. Roger, who spoke German, found himself isolated by many of the students and coaches.

Roger Federer met his long-time girlfriend Mirka Vavrinec in 2000. She was in the top 100 players in the world and in Switzerland's team for the Sydney Olympics. This was the time when he met Mirka and ever since then, they are inseparable. The Swiss tennis star revealed in a message on his Web site on 12th march 2009 that girlfriend Mirka is pregnant with the couple's first child. Later on they got married in Basel on 11 April 2009. Both blessed with twin baby girls.

The only man who has given really a good fight to Roger is Nadal. They both have played each other in 7 Grand Slam finals (Wimbledon; 2-1 Federer , French Open; 3-0 Nadal and Australian Open; 1-0 Nadal). Rodick is the second well know oponent name who played so many matches against him, including 4 Grand Slam finals (3 Wimbledon and 1 US Open). Roger won all four. He has won 15 Grand Slam single titles (Wimbeldon 6 times, US Open 5 times, Aussie Open 3 times and French Open 1 time). He was chosen Swiss Sportsman of the Year in 2003, 2004 and 2006; European Sportsman of the Year from 2004 to 2006; Laureus World Sportsman of The Year in 2005 and 2006 and "L'Equipe" Magazine's Champion of Champions in 2006 and 2007.

Actually, I am not that fond of watching tennis as a game but I watch whenever he plays. He plays so aggressively that sometime I used to stop eating in between just for watching his amazing shots especially the single-handed backhand shot, uff.... just superb. During my school days, I used to hear Pete Sampras and Steffi Graf's winning stories so frequently but this guy really has beaten everyone as far as the consistent wins are concerned. The way the guy played in Cincinnati last couple of weeks, he is even hungrier than before. If he keeps this going for the next three years, he is going to get 20 slams for sure, no doubt in that. He is playing on the tour without a coach or a trainer and has no plans to find one as long as he keeps winning. He appears to be a cricket fan, and played the game in 2006 with children displaced by the 2004 Tsunami in Tamil Nadu.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee(An Inspiring Leader)

Shri. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the ex Prime Minister of India, is a multi faceted political personality. He has been the only prime minister since Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru to occupy the office of Prime Minister of India through three successive mandates. He was conferred Padam Vibhushan in 1992 in recognition of his services to the nation. Well known and respected for his poetry and as an eloquent speaker, Shri vajpayee is known to be a avid reader.

In 1994, he was named India's 'Best Parliamentarian.' He was elected seven times to Lok Sabha and two times to Rajya Sabha. He was widely respected within the country and abroad as a statesman of the genre of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. He also became the first person to deliver a speech to the United Nations General Assembly in Hindi (in Morarji Desai government), the "most unforgettable" moment in his life by his own admission. He admited his purpose of his life-"To play my part sincerely in every aspect of my life and to see India takes its place as a great nation".

While sketching him, I remembered my maternal grandfather who passed away a decade ago, was very close to him and very influenced with Atalji's leadership. During election campaigning, Atalji and his mates used to stay at my grandfather's place. In those days, Advani ji and Bhairon Singh Sekhawat used to be left and right hand for him. When I was a kid, I also had been to one of Atalji's campaign speech in my home town and the funny part was, I asked my dad "papa, ye beech beech mein itni der ruk kyun jate hein, apni speech dhang se yaad karke kyun nahin aate". Everyone smiled and then my dad told me No, this is his own style of delivery.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (Bollywood Queen)

Aishwarya Rai the Miss World stunning beauty queen is considered to be one of the beautiful women in the world. With her gorgeous looks, killer eyes and a smile to sway all hearts, Aishwarya has earned a name in Bollywood that most actresses die for. Not only in India but people all over the world admire her beauty. This Indian darling burst upon the world stage when her striking beauty, poise and commanding intelligence won her the Miss World crown in 1994. She has been the most popular face of Indian cinema globally. She was the first Indian actress to be on the jury of the Cannes International Film Festival. She was also the first Indian actress to be carved in wax at Madame Tussaud’s Museum in London.

I was really mesmerized by her beautifull dazzling eyes while sketching her. I was thinking, God also would have taken lot of time to design her :) since I found really difficult to sketch this beauty, especially her blue-green eyes with the depth of the sea. Once I completed her sketch, only two words came out from my mouth "ufff gorgeous"... and she is, no doubt in that.

Sachin Tendulkar(Master Blaster)

One of the greatest batsman in the history of cricket A Little Champion Master Blaster Modern Bradman Padma Vibhushan Sachin Tendulkar does not need any kind of introduction. He is the man who never speaks, only his performance and several records in his name speak everything and give us a whole idea of what kind of player he is. His outstanding achievement is destined to stand for many years to come. He is the only batsman ever to have been compared with Sir Don Bradman universally, including by Bradman himself. He is a man capable of changing the course of any game.He is a man incorruptible in the face of the venal temptations that so many of his peers could not resist. He is probably the most famous and feted man in India, out glazing even the stars of Bollywood movies. He is also a highest earner in cricket. So on and on.....

Here I would like to share my experience while skecthing him. I remembered my school days when I used to play lot of cricket. The funniest part was I used to complete my home work in school soon so that I could play cricket for rest of the time. When I was in 6th standard, I had a dream, I will become like him but things did not go accordingly since there was a major scaricity for a good coach in my home town. My dad never wanted me to be distracted from studies since I was very good in that and always been school topper.

Lata Mangeshkar (Sur Kokila)

A living legend, the melody queen of India Lata ji's songs have captured the hearts and imaginations of millions of her admirers around the world. I do not have words to express the depth and scope of Lata Mangeshkar's genius. Blessed with a mellifluous voice, she is the most well known Indian vocalist. She is also known as "The Nightingale of Bollwood". She is recipient of many awards and honors both within the country and abroad, "Bharat Ratna" India's highest civilian honor is the one among them. I would like to share my experience while sketching her. All the time i was feeling that i am skecthing the Goddess of music. It would not be a wonder to call her as reincarnation of "Maa Saraswati" and people say also "ye to sakshat maa saraswati hein, inke kunth mein to Veena Vadini Maa Saraswati ka vaas hai".

Kishore Kumar (The Legend)

This blog especially for Kishore Da's fans. He is not alive but he still lives in his music and in our hearts. He was eccentric, very human, romantic, a versatile singer and a man of different moods! The incomparable Kishore kumar was born on Aug 4, 1929 and passing away on Oct 13, 1987 left a void that could never be filled.
